Fairly big annoyance to me, but I finally found a latch on eBay to put in mind that I could just turn to latch, without using the key each time. The flap is what holds them in, there's no latch that grabs the back of the drawers when the lid is down. Also, you have to lock the Deere box each time you closer it to keep the drawers in. I've seen Deere mechanics use them that have had them for years, with a lot more told in them than I have, but that's my experience. That might be a good compromise.Įdited to add, I not be harder on my truck and toolbox than most during irrigation season in the summer. I'd like to know who makes a good 'traditional' road box that won't break the bank also, although I think whenever I trade trucks, I might mount my PackRat and air compressor etc to a skid so that I can forklift the while thing in and out. It's not perfect either, but it's dust resistant, weatherproof, and I don't think I'll tear it up. I sold it to a kid that was working for me cheap and got myself a used PackRat off Craigslist. Wasn't built heavy enough, the spot welds on the front flap broke and I frequently had to reweld them, the drawers went heavy enough and eventually sagged. Would like to have a snap-on road armor box but don't want to shell out the money. I am looking for a tool box to put in the bed of my truck when we're farming.
